Ice ice ice....

Ft

This past week and the kids had their sixth snow day of the school year. We received about 10 inches of snow overnight and the next day. I am so thankful for a snow blower that works. Lucy in particular loves the snow blower! We all had a nice day at home and the weather was warm enough that the kids were actually able to go outside and play in the snow. Unfortunately kylan was not feeling so well. He stayed home from school Monday and then Tuesday was a snow day and he stayed home from school Wednesday. By Thursday he was doing much better and ready to go back to school. Over the weekend daddy took kylan to his soccer game and the girls and I decided to go ice skating. It was a lot of fun. We are so happy the temperature finally cold enough for Tenney Park to open up its ice rink. So another snowy week prior to that however we had a lot of ice. Be sure to enjoy the video of Kylan trying to pull the trash up our icy driveway. It's a classic!

Happy National Ice Cream for Breakfast Day!

l

It's my 2nd favorite Holiday! Happy National Ice Cream for Breakfast Day!   This year the kids opted to have their ice cream on the side instead of as a donut sandwich.   Next year, I think I need to bring back the waffles.  After 1 day of school it was great to have a weekend off!  And it was exciting to get my new pajamas in the mail from my mom
They sure are snuggly!  It was a quiet weekend except for a few errands which included soccer practice and a game.  He score 2 goals in the game.  He has been on a roll
..I put up some video of a few of his goals that I sort of caught on camera.  (I am not the best camera person).
Today, Alaina and I worked on cutting out pajama pants that she will sew, Ky and I made puppy chow and hung pictures in his room and Talia and I colored.  It was a good bonding afternoon before the superbowl.

Day e of No school

Another snow day / cold day in the books! Today we woke up to -26 degrees outside. Last night when I went to bed I thought windows were cracking in the sun porch. It turns out we were just having ice explosions? When the ground gets super cold and expands. I guess it cracks and makes little booms. So I am glad that we don't have any cracked windows. Today was another good relaxing day however the kids are getting a bit squirrelly from being kept in the house for so long. Dad was off too much like most of the state is closed down since it is too cold. Tomorrow, dad will have a half day at work in the afternoon while the rest of us will remain at the home. Anyways we had to go do some experimenting when we woke up so I tossed some hot water into the air so we can watch it turn into snow. I also blew bubbles so that they froze however it was too windy in the bubbles kept blowing away.  We then made a gigantic sub sandwich using the bread Alaina made yesterday.  Ky made an avocado dressing.  It was delicious!  Of course ky decided he needed to bake again and made chocolace chocolate chocolate cookies.  They were delicious!  Talia had a playdate with a friend whosent mom braved thecold to come and get her.  The girls decided to play with their dolls together so Talia wore her matching outfit and had me fix their hair.  Alaina decided to relax with another pj day and to do some yoga.  I slow roasted a chicken in the oven all day long for dinner. It was delicious.  And of course we wrapped the day up with games and drinks.  Another successful snow day in the books!

Day 2 of no school!

Another fun cold snow day/no school day in the! Today's theme was "kids bake me something! Kylan made me brownies with cookie. Alaina made me French bread -one loaf that will be used for sub sandwiches tomorrow and one loaf that will go with dinner tomorrow. Talia made me pumpkin scones. It was delightful! I also had them clean out all their drawers so I can get rid of my hutch. I am excited to get that out of here, especially since it has really just been destroyed by the children and moves over the years. And we played a good game of cadoo at the end of the day. The kids enjoyed their hot chocolate with my special frothed milk and some peppermint sprinkles on top.  Oh...and I finally got a picture of Kylan reading to the girls.  He reads to them often and it is really sweet!  Kylan has ralready read 4 of the Harry Potter books to Alaina!  The love of reading has definitely been passed down to these kiddos!

Day 1 of no school

I don't believe the storm was as bad as they said it was going to be. They canceled school last night around 6 pm. This morning when we got up around 7:30 we only had about five inches of snow. By this afternoon we probably did have a total of 8 in. This morning I got the kids going by telling them no media until you have played outside for a bit. They have been stir crazy with being inside too much the last couple weeks. And with today being the warmest day of the week I needed to take advantage of that. The girls charged off to go sledding at a hill nearby. Kylan chose to help me snow blow. It was his first time behind the blower. I think he liked it much better than shoveling. Lucy was as playful as ever in the snow. She loves jumping at the snow when you dump the snow off the shovel. She also doesn't mind getting hit by the snow blower snow. She is a silly dog. After the fun outside kylan came in and baked banana muffins and homemade pretzels. Yum! It was a quiet and relaxing afternoon. I got a lot of work done and the girls had some fun time playing. Tonight we'll play the game Candoo as a family. It was something I saw at Goodwill yesterday and thought a new game would be in

order for this dreary weather. Don't know if we'll have school tomorrow. It is going to be very questionable with the temperatures. We will see!

Preparing for the storm..

With record low temp and a snowstorm, the girls and I decided to go out and buy some crafts and games for entertainment.  ( We assume we will be trapped at home.)  We had a good time.  Alaina found a dress that she can color, a video, and easel paper.  Talia bought a lot of $ store crafts.  We had a lovely lunch out at IHOP.  When we got home the girls both started working on one of their crafts.  Rob and Ky spent the day at Brewers On Deck.  I should get some pics of that soon.  It was a fun Sunday!  Alaina and I took an IHOP selfie, but it's not on my phone! :(
